Can your clients find you?

Last night I had an interesting thing happen.I was travelling and just getting settled in to my hotel room. I had registered to watch a webinar and was running just a few minutes behind.

As I was tossing off my coat and boots and setting up my laptop to get online, my cell phone started to ring. I didn’t recognize the number, but decided to answer it anyway.

A woman on the other end of the phone said “Hi Janice you don’t know me but I’m trying to get on this webinar and saw you had posted a link…..”

I was confused for a moment, how did she get my number? Who was this lady? And why or how can I help her?

As it turned out the link to the webinar room was experiencing technical difficulties and she was having trouble to get on. She went on the hunt to see if she could find someone else who might be able to help her. I had promoted the webinar on Facebook, and since she had seen that link, she was able to go to my website and then find my number.

Ok cool! So I have just finished reading the book Delivering Happiness: The path to Profits, Passion and Purpose and I knew that I needed to help her figure out how to get online. Not because I read the book, but because the book reaffirmed for me that delivering customer service and customer experience can set you apart from everyone else.

We were finally able to get online and after the webinar we connected again. I don’t know where my new found friendship is going to lead me, but what I do know is that if I didn’t make it easy for her to find me, she wouldn’t have been able to.

So what are you doing to make sure that your clients can find you? Can your potential partners or other associates find you? Or do they have to jump through a gazillion hoops and then only able to find a contact page that has a form to enter that may or may not go directly to you.

I’m not saying to open up the farm – but feel free to welcome guests!
